Rescuing the flat-faced & fluffy tailed!

OUR STORY

About Us

We are a breed-specific cat rescue specializing in helping persians, himalayans, exotic shorthairs, and ragdolls.  We do take in other breed cats as the need arises and space permits.

Most of our rescued cats are pulled from shelters. Some are given up by their owners due to family situations, financial situations, or a behavioral problem the cat is having.

All cats are treated for any existing medical condition(s); they are spayed/neutered, FIV/FELV tested, and given all necessary immunizations before adoption; and any behavioral problem(s) the cat may have is addressed and resolved.

All of our foster cats are housed in actual homes with foster parents – so they become accustomed to being in a real home environment.  This allows us to properly evaluate each cat in our rescue’s care, in order to find the best forever home.

Our Mission

Our mission is to utilize our specialized knowledge to rescue, foster, rehabilitate, and find homes for purebreed cats. These cats often do not thrive in shelter settings, so our one-on-one foster home system is specially designed to provide maximum care for these cats.

We are a registered 501(c)3 rescue specializing in rescuing persians, himalayans, exotic shorthairs, and ragdolls. Cat Adoptions for Central & South Texas and surrounding states. Located in San Antonio, Texas.

Our Story

Established in 2003

Persians and related breeds need specialized care. They have unique health issues, nutritional needs, grooming needs, etc. With over 16 years experience, South Texas Persian Rescue is very well versed in caring for these cat breeds. All cats are treated for any existing medical condition(s); they are spayed/neutered, FIV/FELV tested, and given all necessary immunizations before adoption; and any behavioral problem(s) the cat may have is addressed and resolved.

We are not a shelter. Our cats are cared for in loving, trained, and experienced foster homes. Our one-on-one foster home system is specially designed to provide maximum care for these cats. The cats become accustomed to being in a real home environment as part of a family. This system also allows us to properly evaluate each cat in our rescue’s care, in order to determine the best adoptive household setting for each of our cats (dogs/no dogs, kids/no kids, cats/no cats, etc).

Based on our professional evaluation of each cat, we are able to best match their needs with the needs of our approved applicants. Our comprehensive application helps us to recommend which of our cats would do best in each applicant’s home. We understand adoption is a serious, life long decision. When our cats get adopted, we want them to be in their adoptive homes forever.

South Texas Persian Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, registered with the IRS. EIN 27-2029744.
